The Guild year runs from September through May. Each year, the membership plans a full calendar of fundraising and friendraising events, as well as activities to foster friendship among members. Explore the events below and learn more about how to get involved!

General Membership Meetings

The GMMs are an opportunity for us to communicate important Guild information to our members, and we would like to have maximum attendance!

New Member Orientation and Agency Tour

Golf Tournament, Grandover Resort

Tee off times begin at 8:30 am
Get ready to tee off as the Guild of Family Service of Greensboro is excited and pleased to announce its first annual Texas Scramble Golf Tournament to be held this fall to support the work of Family Service of the Piedmont.
The tournament is scheduled for Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at Grandover Resort in
Greensboro with tee times beginning at 8:30 a.m. The event will include a raffle, awards,
and a boxed lunch to-go.

Annual Campaign
Begins November 2
The Families First Annual Campaign, the Greensboro Foundation’s yearly direct mail fund drive raises money to help fund the agency's services in the Greensboro community. Recognition: Donors are listed in the Family Service summer newsletter distributed to 6,000 households and businesses throughout Guilford County. Guild and Foundation Chairs assist with the Campaign

Guild Gems Bundle of Giving Program
Begins August 29th
This program allows you to consolidate all your annual support of Family Service of Greensboro Foundation and the Guild into a single pledge made by December 31. Guild Gems Bundles of Giving combines participation in all Guild social and fund-raising events for the year as well as the Greensboro Foundation's Annual Campaign and Endowment fund.

Change-ing Lives
Begins November 1st
A Greensboro Foundation awareness and fundraising event for Clara House domestic violence shelter, and other victims of abuse. This event reaches out to local churches, schools and businesses and asks their members, students and patrons to collect coins, dollars or checks by filling individual Baby Bottles. The Guild partners with the Foundation to oversee this event.

Lunch with Family Service

Quarterly, hour-long informational sessions over lunch at the agency’s
Greensboro offices. Allows established Guild members and new friends to learn more about Family Service’s programs, and tour the facility.
BIG HAIR Ball
This year's BIG Hair Ball campaign will be SAFE AT HOME!

Greensboro Coliseum
The BHB includes a cocktail reception followed by a runway fashion show featuring outsized hairdos and outré outfits created by local designers. Members of the Junior Guild serve as models, with outfits inspired by each model’s corporate or individual sponsor.
Recognition: Sponsors are listed on the event invitation and program, on signs at the event, and in the Guild and Family Service newsletter and Annual Report. Top sponsorships include a model to showcase, invitations to pre-event cocktails and dinner party.
Spring Holiday Happening!
April 9th, 2021 11:30 am - 1:30 pm
Starmount Forest Country Club

Guild members join together and invite friends to The Spring Holiday Happening Luncheon. This year the event takes place in April at Greensboro Country Club. Relax and enjoy a delicious lunch and learn about fresh ideas on ways to enhance your Spring and Summer experience. All proceeds will be used to purchase needed items for Clara House and Family Service of the Piedmont.

Oyster Roast
Friday, April 30th 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm

This annual spring fundraiser is a partnership between the Guild and the Greensboro Foundation. The Oyster Roast takes place in April at the home of a community resident. The Oyster Roast is an outdoor elegantly casual event that attracts 1,000 attendees each year. In addition, top sponsors may attend a pre-event cocktail reception inside the hosts’ home.Recognition: Sponsors and Hosts are listed on the event invitation and receive a button to wear at the event. Sponsors (Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum) are also listed on signs at the event and in the Family Service newsletter and Annual Report. Signage may be placed in yard of event hosts or sponsors.
