We are Lily Helms and Catherine Olin this year’s 2018-2019 Jr. Guild Co-Presidents. We are both seniors and attend Page and Greensboro Day, respectively and have been active in Junior Guild for 3 years. The Junior Guild is comprised of over one hundred and fifty 10th -12th grade high school girls from eleven area high schools. We have a large class of sophomore girls that we are welcoming this year! Our executive board is comprised of lots of amazing girls who have dedicated a lot of time to this organization. The list of our executive board can be found on the 2018-2019 slate officers tab. We are proud to be led by Daniela Helms and Kelly Rose, the liaisons of Junior Guild.
Family Service of the Piedmont is the largest non-profit agency of its kind in Guilford County. Family Service is focused on building safe and healthy families and strong communities. To do this, the agency provides family support services, victim services, and credit counseling services. With an over $9 million annual budget, their programs helped 18,250 unique clients last year.
Our goal as a Junior Guild is to raise funds and awareness for Family Service of the Piedmont. We do this by volunteering as needed and participating in events that raise money such as the Big Hair Ball and Greek Festival. We are also in the planning stages of our first annual “Soup It Up!” fundraiser that will take place in the spring. In addition, we host a baby shower that is just like a real baby shower and we get items to help mothers participating in the Healthy Start Baby Program. We have many more projects that we also participate in. You will have opportunities to help others, earn service hours, be in leadership roles, and really expand what you know about making a difference in our community. Additionally, we bring in speakers that have had personal experiences with Family Service to educate us on all the components so we can be advocates in our community.
Your active participation with us is crucial. Our focus is the 3 C’s… Commitment, Communication, and Community Service. Your attendance is a huge part of being involved in the Junior Guild. You can find more information about our meetings and volunteer opportunities on Instagram and Twitter. Please subscribe to our Instagram and Twitter as we communicate important information through these social media websites.
We are so excited for this year and to see all of the girls shine!
